Just when I thought I could
Modified By SERIES 5 on 1/24/2010 7:35:16 PM)

Just when I thought I could let the charger sit my jeep went down.  The thermostat housing cracked and I found a fray in the drive belt. I went to change the oil and my filter wrench broke, the filter was tightened to much on the last oil change. I went to do the screw driver technique and the filter tore in half. Now I have to remove the filter adapter to get the rest of the filter off. I also found a leak in the lower radiator. It has been two weeks and I am almost done. I hoping to get done Thurs. as long as I don't have to work. I know old cars will need parts to be replaced , but man when will it stop. Well at least everything happened at once, I can be thankful for that. I just had to vent. I have things to do with the charger and it can't be done till I get the jeep finished. The one bad thing about the jeep is there is no room to work.

Sorry to hear about your run of bad luck! That filter might come off if you can get a sharp chisel in to tap the filter base and screw it off. Good luck!

Sorry Chuck, As they say "When it rains it pours" I was going to suggest the chisel also but it appears that didn't work. Your right in saying you should remove the filter adapter. There will be less chance of creating additional damage. Good luck with your mission if you should decide to accept it. This post will self destruct in 10 secs. Sorry just trying to cheer you up!
