Your right, that little extra tire patch can make a big difference. Also consider the fact that the tires on the SRT cars were part of an integral designed suspension system and provided the handling characteristics that were also designed into SRT cars. All in all in the end if you buy the Hurst take offs you are pretty much guaranteed they haven't been abused in any way, those rims never saw a pot hole and the tread will be brand new, you're buying peace of mind. With the other deals you have to rely on the seller's honesty. For me I would spend the extra bucks just to be sure. When it comes to these cars and driving them hard and fast I wouldn't mess around. The only thing you still need to do to get really close to the SRT is to Huff it. The Vortech takes the 5.7L right up to the 6.1L power numbers. What's really cool about adding supercharging to the 5.7L is if you aren't in the gas you will still be getting the gas mileage of a 5.7 with the power of the 6.1L at hand by just stomping on the go pedal! That's what's cool about centrifugal blowers; they're only there when you need them. When your not in the gas the bypass valve is open and the pressure is purged from the system....but when you hit the gas that bypass valve (Pop-Off) slams shut and all that boost is instantly pushed into the motor, bah-bam, you're flying! Sure you get one second of lag just off idle when punching it with a cent. blower but It's worth it to have the best of both worlds, lots of power and gas mileage too! If you want to build a race only car put the roots blower on, it's the way to go.
Just to make my point. I had the Hurst out for a ride on Sunday afternoon, I was rolling down 309 between Quakertown and Perkasie, there's a nice stretch I wanted to put her in the 3 digit zone and this truck and tag trailer was riding in the left lane going around 55-60 so I put her in the right lane as I pulled it into 3rd gear and put the hammer down. I swear to you that car went from 60 to 120 in three seconds and there were two people in the car. That 372ci blown Hemi pulls like a 500ci big block! So the motto concerning blowers for the street should be "Don't Push, Just Squeeze "
